Courageous motivating story, filled with the raw reality black women had to face during the period of racial segregation in America
Set in the South a young writer decides she wants to write about the treatment of the help, black women who assisted in the affluent white suburban areas to attend to these women’s homes, children and husbands. Some developing stronger bonds with the children than their mothers.
An inspiring story for many due to the fact these women opened doors. At the time something like this would of been unheard of. They were literally breaking the law, but despite this still showed courage. In a way the book could of been considered as a peaceful protest.
I throughly enjoyed reading it and the movie added a few extra laughs.
