Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino

The out running theme for the Milan fashion shows this week have looked to me somewhat medieval. It appeared all the tribal influences that heavily dominated shows in December have been replaced. From Dolce and Gabanna to Valentino to Roberto Cavali, the designers took us on a journey to pre dated Europe with bold armour like silhouettes, textured woven fabrics and neutral but warm fire crackling colours.

Valentino kept in line with the trend but modernised it adding fringe detailing to the lengthy jackets and sartorial stripes. He kept a few of his looks clean with crisp white collared shirts, I noticed some designers kept it simple. Valentino did not have his usual red carpet style gowns however he replaced it with short hemmed and wide sleeved dresses.
