Meet the faces of Elle’s women in TV. The cover is for Elle’s February issue featuring Zooey Deschanel, Amy Poehler, Allison Williams and Mindy Kaling.
What was odd to me about this cover was that unlike the rest Mindy Kaling was given a head shot and the cover was in black and white. These are Elle’s women of TV why would they not include a full body and a coloured photo of Mindy Kaling.
It is a pretty picture of Mindy but yet again their is a blatent discrimination of those worthy to be graced on fashion magazine covers. Mindy is reportedly a size 8 us, size 12 uk she does not have a top model figure like the other actresses. Also she is of Indian descent which may be one of the reason her head shot was in black and white.
It may be something small to Mindy who said “I love my @Ellemagazine cover. It made me feel glamorous & cool. And if anyone wants to see more of my body, go on thirteen dates with me.”
What do you think was it right for Elle magazine to leave Mindy out of the full body coloured images like the fellow actresses in the feature?
